Our 2006 "Get Decked Out with Southern Pine!" Deck Contest Winner
What would you do if you won a brand-new, pressure-treated Southern Pine deck, custom built for your home?
Carolyn Burgess of Altavista, Va., got the chance to answer that question in the spring of 2006 when she won SPAN’s annual “Get Decked Out with Southern Pine!” deck contest. Sponsored by SPAN and a host of industry partners, the sweepstakes drew more than 12,000 entries from across the United States and awarded the winner with a gorgeous new deck … and several extras.
The 582-square foot deck was constructed using pressure-treated Southern Pine, which combines the natural beauty of real wood with the next generation of safe preservatives. The wood used was Prime, KDAT (kiln-dried after treatment), giving it the maximum moisture-fighting capability possible. Treated Southern Pine costs less than redwood, cedar or plastic composites, plus offers many environmental benefits.
Considered the building material of choice for decades, Southern Pine is perfect for any number of home improvement applications, both inside and outside the home. Using pressure-treated Southern Pine
for this deck ensures that it will stand up to the elements, it won’t conduct heat in the summer and it will be around for decades of enjoyment.
So what would you do if you won a brand-new pressure-treated Southern Pine deck? You might have the chance to find out: SPAN’s annual deck contest kicks off March 15, 2007. Be sure and register for your chance to win a gorgeous deck – and all the trimmings – of your very own.
